If I have it right
Wo xi huan da wanqiu means I like to play tennis. It sounds something like, Whoa (as in
Stop Horse !)...so, Whao she khwahn dah wonchway. But, of course, you have to know which tones to use while saying it. Flat, rising, dippy, or rising. That might not be possible. I learned how to say this and a few other new words, like
jing maidan (check please) and
da bao or
dai zou (doggie bag) last night after tennis. Looks like our little group is solidifying, so I hope the weather holds up longer. Last night YouQi had the court before us and he stayed and played with us. We've decided he's addicted to tennis. Otherwise, the core group is Cathy, Janice, and XiaoHong. Michael showed up too. After tennis we had dinner at the little cafe here. The plan is to make Wednesday our regular tennis night and play for 2 hours. After that it seems there are several ideas what to do...eat for sure. YouQi said he'd teach us to play mah jong. Hmmm....mah jong.
